Eli Black Eagle

Eli was born on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. He spent many years with Lakota elders learning the traditional ways of his tribe.

He is a self-taught watercolor painter, and has been painting professionally for over twenty years.

Eli’s work can be found in collector’s homes throughout the United States, including a painting that is part of the permanent collection of St. Luke's Hospital, Sun Valley, ID, and is currently being represented by Page’s Gallery in Ketchum, ID, Alpine Mercantile, Alpine, CA and Cloud Dancer II in Tucson, AZ.

His work can be seen in the August 99’ issue of Southwest Art Magazine.

As in the tradition of his people, Eli likes to “give away” and help various organizations as much as possible.

He has donated art to the American Cancer Society, the Boy Scouts of America, Canine Companions, and Bagdad Elementary, Bagdad, FL, art is learning program.

Eli currently resides in Taos, NM, where he is inspired by the serenity of the regional mountains.
